what is rss
rss is the way you can get your alomst whole internet into one centralized reader for newses and informations and weblogs, without the need to open milion sites every day to check what is new on them. this is my main reason why i use rss to this day.
how can you start with rss? : it's quite easy, i'm sure you have some sites etc. that you visit everyday. they should have some kind of an icon that looks like:

you can click it. and the main what you'll see is an .xml data, that can be converted into readable text with attachments by an rss reader.
there's a quite lots of rss readers you can install, the example feed readers are mostly:
- thunderbird's built-in rss client
- vivaldi browser's rss built-in client
- omera reader for windows operating system
- newsboat terminal text based client
- liferea linux feed reader
- feeder for android
so, since you know some feed readers, you may want to add your favorite sites feed channels to one.
for example this is the feed reader client liferea on linux with almost all feeds from polish foundation internet. czas działać! as you can see the feeds are from their sites and podcast and social medias from the fediverse/mastodon accounts.

its possible to choose your refresh timer, so you can get the new content. i recommend to use from 1 hour to 1 day refresh timer. refreshing rss every 5 minutes isn't a good idea, as that mostly is a bandwidth loss since the articles aren't literally added every one second and can cause it on some sites to block the connection for high bandwidth usage if the site server has the limits for it.
the plus of that is so you can read interesting you articles, bookmark them, save as files, and you won't get the problem of social media scrolling, because the feed is ending at some point, unless you refresh it and someone added the new stuffs, but basically, there's no way to be addicted, and it helps in productivity.
